The SAG Award recognizes exemplary organizations implementing spatial analytics technology and showcases the outstanding achievement of Esri users, according to Esri Founder and President.Jack Dangermond.

Johns Creek’s GIS is a central point of data within the city. It collects, processes and analyzes information from all of the different departments within the city. This information is then used to make maps, charts and 3D visualizations that help Johns Creek staff and decision-makers understand the complex nature of certain issues the city faces. Through the DataHub and other web-based technologies, this same data is presented in dashboards and interactive maps that help citizens and businesses understand and utilize the information.

"It’s an incredible honor to receive the SAG award this year and be recognized for the great work that the team has done over the last seven years," said Nick O’Day, senior GIS manager. "The GIS in Johns Creek is meant to work for everyone – staff, citizens, and businesses – and to have Esri recognize us is truly humbling. It’s been a team effort since the beginning and we continue to explore and implement new technology."

Johns Creek’s GIS team was one of 180 organizations in areas such as agriculture, defense, transportation, nonprofit work, telecommunications, and local and state government to receive a SAG Award. Esri staff annually nominate hundreds of candidates from around the world for consideration, and Dangermond selects the finalists.
