The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is gathering public feedback on potential changes to the bay scallop season for the Pasco County Zone. The Pasco County Zone currently has a 10-day season in rule but a longer, trial season was set by executive order in 2023 to assess whether extending the season would balance resource sustainability with community interests.
The virtual public workshop will start at 6 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Nov. 8. A unique link to connect to the workshop will be posted on the Saltwater Workshops webpage on the day of the meeting.
If you are unable to attend the virtual meeting, you can submit a written comment about Pasco County Zone bay scallop management online by visiting MyFWC.com/SaltwaterComments.

World Mental Health Day
Pasco Sheriff’s Office is committed to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and providing supportive ways to help our community. Together, we can raise awareness on the value of caring for our mental health and wellness. PSO also focuses on ways to best assist citizens experiencing a mental health crisis or challenge.
PSO is proud to have introduced the Behavioral Health Intervention Team in 2020. This team's mission is to connect frequent users of emergency services, including police and EMS, to community-based resources. This connection can lead to long-term management of mental health conditions and in turn, reduce the volume of calls to emergency services.
Many community resources are available for a broad range of needs. PSO has compiled Pasco community-based resources on our website to help serve our citizens. These are available for various challenges that citizens may encounter, including mental health issues, experiencing houselessness, thoughts of self harm and more. This resource list was developed to give those seeking assistance a place to start when they may not where to turn.
The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline helps thousands of people overcome crisis situations. Anyone in the United States can text or call 988 to reach trained counselors who can help them through a mental health emergency and direct them to additional resources for mental health and substance use treatment. If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. Call or text 988, or chat 988lifeline.org/chat. Please note that this number will not connect the caller to PSO personnel.
