Mayor Rahm Emanuel failed to avoid an April runoff during his re-election bid Tuesday. He won 45.4 percent of the vote, shy of the 50 percent-plus-one-vote needed. In comparison, Emanuel sailed to victory in 2011 with 55.3 percent of the vote. The maps below show how he fared in each election. Ward boundaries were redrawn between elections, so numbers between wards aren’t an exact comparison.
