The University of Redlands will celebrate spatial learning, research and community service conducted by students, faculty, administrators and campus programs at a symposium beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, in the university’s Orton Center.

The event begins with a reception 5-6:15 p.m., with posters and story maps by students, faculty and administrators

Between 6:15 and 6:45, there will be three speakers. Kathy Ogren, provost, will speak on “A Year in the Life of a Spatial University,” Steven Moore, director of the Center for Spatial Studies, will speak on “Changing the World with Maps” and Tom Horan, dean of the School of Business, will speak on “Training Spatial Business Transformers.”

The Tomlinson Prize for Excellence in GIS will be presented at 6:45.

At 7 p.m., Dawn Wright, chief scientist at Esri, will give the keynote address on “The Courage to Communicate.”
