Map: Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics Live Medal Tracker

This article is more than 6 years old.

The United States dominated the snowboard events at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea with gold medals in the halfpipe for the men (Shaun White) and women (Chloe Kim). The U.S. pulled a similar double in the slopestyle event when Red Gerard and Jamie Anderson took home gold. White's gold was the third of his Olympic career and the 100th in the Winter Olympics overall for the U.S., second all time behind Norway's 118 entering the 2018 Games.

Norway and Germany were the favorites to land atop the Olympic medal table at the start of the Games. Nielsen subsidiary Gracenote projected the Scandinavian country of 5.2 million people to win a record 41 medals, two more than Germany. The total would be four more than Team USA, which set the Winter mark at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver (Gracenote projects the U.S. in third with 29 medals).

Through 30 events, Germany sits atop the medal standings with 12, including six golds. Norway and the Netherlands are tied for second at 11. But the hardware is still to be determined at more than 70 events.

Mapping firm ESRI designed several interactive maps around the 2018 Winter Olympics, including a look at the hometowns of every U.S. athletes and one for the Olympic venues in Pyeongchang. Below is a live medal tracker to gauge which countries rack up the most medals during the 2018 Games. Click on the ellipsis under each country’s flag for a breakdown of the nation's medal take.
