Harvey: Landfall paths of Texas hurricanes have always kept Gulf watchers guessing

Tropical Depression Harvey still has Atlantic weather watchers guessing as of mid-day Wednesday.

With NOAA's latest projected landfall paths still anywhere from Corpus Christi to the southwest, to Houston in the northeast, all that is really known is that portions of Texas are in for a soggy weekend.

Part of what has made Harvey difficult to plot early on is that the storm system took a long time to fully reform after passing over Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, regroup and reset its course.

Now that the storm is finally in warm Gulf waters, forecasters should be able to soon establish a more predictable pattern, but as the landfall patterns above show, anything is possible when a big, twisting storm is heading toward Texas.
